Hole Coring for sprinkler pipe is the work of Local 281.
6/5/2007
It has come to the attention of Local 281 that much of the hole coring on jobsites that is being subcontracted is being performed by Laborers. Any hole coring for sprinkler pipe is the work of the Local 281Sprinkler Fitter. This is clearly stated in our Collective Bargaining Agreement. A letter has been sent to our sinatory contractors reminding them that this is our work.
Any hole coring performed on a jobsite that is not done by a Sprinkler Fitter will result in a grievance filed against the contractor, and charges filed against the members on that jobsite. There will be no exceptions. There are currently no hole coring contractors signatory to Sprinkler Fitters Union Local 281, U.A. If and/or when a coring contractor becomes signatory to our Collective Bargaining Agreement, a notification will be sent to the contractors and the membership.
Conversations have been held with companies regarding seeking this work. If you are interested in going to work for a hole coring company please contact John Zubricks as soon as possible.
